Character Spacing-Position Raise

B

Bill Bunton

I 'm using an iMac-OS X, with MS-Word X v 2 .

Q: I'm trying to "Position" (Raise) two words upward by
5-points trying to get as close as possible to a signature
line, which shows it being done in Preview, but when I
click OK it's not (visibly) happening in my document; e.g.:

I highlight the words, then Go to format>Font>Character
Spacing>Position>Raised>5-Points>OK . Any advice on what
I'm doing wrong-is greatly appreciated.

Hi Bill:

You may need to print it to see the effect. The display is not 100 per cent
accurate. Make sure you are in Page Layout view: you won't see it in Normal
View.

Also ensure that your line height in that paragraph is not set to a fixed
value: Word needs to be able to increase the leading to raise by five
points.

Hope this helps

Thanks for responding, but how do I know if my "line
height" is not set to a "fixed value"?

May work in reverse. Try lowering the signature by 5 points.

I have just been trying to raise the top line on a label and what appears to
happen is that more space is added below giving the illusion of raising
simply by making it occupy a greater space.
