Character spacing problem

Hello,

this is a problem I've always faced in word processors but failed
miserably to solve. Sometimes, in a paragraph, or just in multiple
single lines, the first character of each line doesn't start from
exactly the same point, there's a very tiny but visible divergence, and
I seem unable to fix it. I try messing with alignment, ruler bars, tab
button and font/character spacing properties but this isn't right.
Surely I'm missing something very simple here....

Thanks

I cannot imagine why this would happen if you are using proper margins for
alignment. Could you describe exactly what you are doing so that we could
see it in Word?

Can't think of any specifics. Probably copy/pasting from different
files, with diverse font and ruler settings.
I end up with a paragraph and I seem unable to completely align the
beginning of sentences. Thus if I write exactly the same words one below
the other, a slight but visible 'sync' differentiation is visible. May
be there's a command/option to fix this?
