word 2004 is deleting the character to the right with every character
I try to insert. I don't know what started this or how to stop it. Any
ideas?

You've accidentally enabled "Overtype" mode. To deactivate it, click on the
"OVR" button in the status bar at the very bottom of every Word document
window (there should be a green dot next to it to show that it is currently
active).

And have you ever noticed how MANY times a problem that someone
was having in Word was solved by simply turning some obscure
function or feature OFF?

"Bend Word to your Will" has a great section on this but we
almost need a pamphlet that comes with every version of Word or
Office called something like "Everything a Newbie should disable
after installing Word"

The world would be a better place. It might even contribute to
world peace! (i.e., by reducing world agitation :)

Hi Jeff:

Well, you do an article about it and I will be delighted to put it up on the
website for you :)

I have been "meaning to" "get around to" "make this a priority" since ‹ oh ‹
about 1997 :)

Cheers
