Characters changed after export from Outlook Express

Hi, can anyne help me with this issue. I've been using Outlook Express for
few years and recently decided to move to MS OL 2003. When I export messages
from OE to MSOL2003, every was fine except one thing: All of my Vietnamese
emails, the Vietnamese chracters (Unicode) were changed to (?), which I can
not read the text anymore.

I have checked again and make sure that my Personal Folder File is already
2003 version which is Unicode ready. If compose a new message, then the
Vietnamsee typing and display are OK, this issue only affect to the old
emails. It's very troublesome because I have to refer to old email many times.

Please advise. I have re-tried export few time but the issue still there.

Thanks,
Phong

Hi Pat,

Thank for your response. However, I read the below link and really confused.
Have download the Office Resource Kit, install and run Custom Installation
Wizard accordingly, but do not know how to proceed further.

Would it be possible that you can give me a step by step instruction?

With many thanks.

Hi Phong,

Do you know how to run the Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc)? This is
what I have used to make Outlook 2003 running in Unicode mode. I am on
an Exchange Server, so things may be slightly different.

Run gpedit.msc (Start, Run) and open Outlk11.adm (in Windows\Inf) from
User Configuration, Administrative Templates.

Next drill down to Microsoft Office Outlook 2003, Miscellanious, PST
Settings and double-click Preferred PST Mode (Unicode/ANSI). Click the
Enabled radio button to enable configuring the policy, and then in the
Choose a default format for new PSTs drop-down list, select Enforce
Unicode PST.

You will have to reboot before the changes take effect.

Regards,
Pat
