Characters skip and insert

When I am typing documents in WORD or any program, all of a sudden my typed
words will skip and start inserting on previous lines, in the middle of other
words, messing up what I have typed. It occurs sporadically. Has anyone else
experienced this and can you tell me how to fix ? Thanks.

On a laptop? Perhaps your touchpad is overly sensitive -- see if you
can turn down its sensitivity, or if it can disconnect when a mouse is
plugged in.

This can happen when using a computer with a touch-pad mouse thing when the
user accidentally brushers the pad which causes the selection to move to
another part of the document.
