I have a line chart with many datapoints. So many, that if it were to
display all of them, the x-axis captions would crowd together. It seems
that OWC has taken the matter into its own hands by combining the values
into groups of two or three to make it fit.
If I want to plot monthly data for 36 months, OWC plots the first point
correctly. The second point, however, contains the sum of the next two or
three points. Each additional point on the chart contains the sum of two
or three data points. Often the last data point will contain the correct
data.
The result is a meaningless chart. Sudden spikes or drops don't indicate a
change in the data, but rather a point where OWC decided to combine 3
points as one, or not. The only benefit is that the data points and the
x-axis labels fit without being crowded. This benefit is of no use if the
data displayed is not accurate.
This "feature" could be cool in some applications. But it should be left
as a feature, and not the default behavior. How annoying and frustrating!
Okay, all my ranting and raving wont solve my problem. Is there a way to
force OWC to display EVERY datapoint, even if it wont fit prettily? I know
that previous versions of OWC don't have this feature, so if I have to, I
will downgrade my application to use the older version, but I'd rather not
do that. How do I get OWC to behave correctly?
My chart is populated with literal data, no recordsets or pivottables or
databases involved.
thanks
