chart help please

I have a worksheet which shows all the purchases made by a
customer over an extended period of time. Can someone tell
me how to make a "chart" which (hopefully) will show a
line starting on left and heading northbound as it moves
to the right (sort of like what you see when they show the
price of gasoline on the nightly news). I have posted the
dat here http://bbdldarts.homestead.com/excelexample.html,
and I also put commas between columns of info.
It would be nice if I could get a chart that breaks it
down by product and dat, not just total products.
please help if you can

Hi!

Can you put a suitable selection of data on this page?
Are you looking for a cumulative graph (adding on each year'
purchases, for example? or even each individual purchase?)
Have you any issues with price base over a prolonged period? (Mos
people have ;))
Do you want to do it with blocks or lines)

thanks for your response Alf,

I guess what I want to do is get a line graph/chart that
would show the purchases by product over a period (say 1
year) and tht way I could put one chart on top of another
to see if a customer is buying more or less than other
years

Hi!

Well, you can certainly graph this data and get something like yo
suggest (though one data series = one line at this stage).

Add a column which gives cumulative totals for "Quantity".
(Easy way is set E2=C2 (where Quantity resides)
Then set E3=E2+C3 and copy this down).

Now select column A (dates) and, with ctrl depressed, select column E.
If your version of Excel jibs at this, you may find it useful to mov
the columns so that they are contiguous; then select both columns o
data.
Click the Chart wizard button and choose a line graph.

Does this get you started?

By the way, your web address didn't work for me.
