Chart labels in xy scatter

I am not given the option to add labels to the X and Y axis, why is this and can it be done and if so how. Its starting to frustrate me a little, so any help would be much appreciated.

Select ChartOptions and there'll be places to type in labels for X,Y
axes (primary and secondary), chart title, etc.

Chart options should be axcessable by ckicking the
chart and then right clicking the chart, the only
thing is, is that the word "Chart Options" is greyed
out, so its not clickable. And I've numerous times,
by redoing the whole chart, but it remains
un-clickable.

Click on the toolbox icon to expose the formatting palette. Then when you
select the chart, the chart options in the formatting palette will be
available.
