Charts floating in word

This might sound very basic: I have a very long word document and have several charts that I've created in excel (mainly these have been created in Excel 2004 because I need the ability to create them with hatching/patterns). I have inserted the charts into my document using the copy & paste special method. The problem I have is that they seem to jump about at random which causes me lots of problems as they should be next to certain paragraphs. Is there a way to anchor them to a particular location?
Thanks!

Floating graphics in a Word document _are_ anchored to a particular
location... It just most likely isn't the location you might think & as that
location changes the position of the graphic does too :)

Objects in a Word document are either inserted as "In Line with Text" or as
"floating" graphics having some form of Text Wrap applied. Even floating
graphics, though, are anchored to a paragraph.

For detailed insight on how to best deal with graphics in Word start here:

Then follow the links at the bottom of the page pertaining specifically to
floating graphics.
