Charts/tables get corrupted

Ver: Powerpoint 2003
Sometimes I get back presentations reviewed by others where the charts have
errors that read: "The server application, source file, or item can't be
found, or returned an unknown error. You may need to reinstall the server
application." I then can not open the datasheet. It's in effect just an
image. This sometimes happen to tables as well -- they have become upgrouped
to a series of lines and text boxes. These "others" claim they do not upgroup
the charts or tables. Is it a compatability issue?
