It got a lot harder in Excel 2008 than in previous versions (that's
progress for you!).

create your data array as normal, and select a predefined chart as if
you were making a single y-axis chart.

Then, double click on one of the plot lines in the chart to open the
formatting dialog for that series.

Select 'axis' in the left hand pane of the formatting dialog

you can now select to plot this series on a secondary axis.

repeat the process for each series you want plotted on the secondary axis

If, like me, you find this unbearably tedious, please send feedback to
MS by using the 'Send Feedback' link under the Excel 'Help' menu.

Hi Barry,
Thank you for your help. Do you have some ideas on improving this
experience that could you post here (or email me)? If you could send a
step-by-step process of what you'd like for a better experience, then that
would be a great help. Double-clicking on a chart data series and then
going to the Axis pane in the Format Data Series dialog and then pressing
the Secondary axis radio button appears to work like XL 2004.

Thanks!

I'd also like to add that in XL 2004, there were custom types in the Chart
Wizard and one of them was "Lines on 2 Axes". Does not having this option
make the process "unbearably tedious" or that you have to open/close each
Format Data Series dialog to change the axis option for each data series?

Thanks again,
Eric
