Chat function in Entourage

Am trying to understand the capabilities of the Chat button and IM
addresses in Entourage 2008.

Entourage's online help doesn't seem to mention it at all (and that's
an issue in itself). Haven't found any posts here that address it
directly.

1. Does the chat function link to iChat or MS Messenger only
2. If Messenger only does that mean it only works with Windows Live
Messenger Service.
3. Does Windows Live Messenger Service have any connectivity to AIM
or .Mac accounts
4. What format do IM addresses take in Outlook take? Though that may
be moot based on 2 and 3.

Microsoft Messenger only, as expected.

No, it doesn't, unfortunately.

I'm not sure I follow. If there is an IM service in Outlook, I would suspect
it to behave just like the one offered in Entourage, i.e. it makes use of
the (Windows Live) Messenger application.

Sorry - meant to say Entourage not Outlook in 4! But the question is
not really relevant if the chat link only connects with Messenger.
