Check Box Form Field

I have saved a document that has a table which includes checkboxes. I
went back into the document to add lines and more checkboxes and the
checkboxes appear red and underlined. I can't change the format of the
boxes at all. Please help.

Turn off Track Changes and Accept All Changes.
