If your remote users open the project plan from
ProjectServer, then do a File...Save As, then Save As
File from the Save To Project Server dialog box, they can
save it to their hard drive locally. Have them close the
project. That will check it in. They then can open it
locally and do their edits.
Be sure to instruct them to publish it back to
ProjectServer when they are finished editing. We handle a
number of complaints about users "losing" hours of work,
only to find that they edited a local copy of the project
and didn't republish it when they were finished.
