Checkboxes in Word 2007 Template

I opened a previous created template from Word 2007. I turned off the
protect, made my changes and protected it. When I went to fill in the text
boxes and checkboxes (by tabbing), it only tabbed it's way to the text boxes.

Are the check boxes form field check boxes? If you unprotect and
double-click a check box do you see the Check Box Form Field Options dialog
box? Alternately press Alt+F9 to toggle the view of field codes. Form field
check boxes will display as {FORMCHECKBOX}.
