Checking In with Project Server 2007

S

Steve

I have a Project that I wish to delete, but cannot delete because it states
the Project is checked out to myself. I assume at some point I have checked
this in/out incorrectly. Any suggestions on how to get this Project checked
in so it may be deleted would be helpful. Also, advice on the correct way to
checkout/checkin a Project may prevent me from doing this again. I thought I
was doing it the right way, but now I am not sure.

Thanks

Steve

Assuming you are a Project Server administrator, log into PWA and then click
Server Settings - Force Check-in Enterprise Objects. Select Enterprise
Projects from the pick list at the top of the page, select the option
checkbox for your own project, and then click the Check In button. Also,
you probably checked in the project correctly, but it somehow got "stuck" in
a checked out state, so you probably did nothing wrong. Hope this helps.

Further to what Dale suggests, please try to close a project properly (by
closing the project itself and not P2007), since this action explicitly
prompts you to check-in. Closing directly P2007 *sometimes* may leave the
project checked out.

I'll add my 2 cents too. If you disconnect from the network without
closing the project it can leave it checked-out. You may be in a
conference room connected wireless and walk to another area, or
physically disconnect your cable, etc. while the project is open.

If a forced check-in doesn't work, try deleting your cache. In Project, Tools
menu, Local Project Cache. Also check your Queue for hung jobs. If all else
fails, there are posts on this discussion board on how to modify the db.
