Hello,

I am in search of Chinese (PRC) Proofing Tools for either Office 2004
or Office 2008 (preferably 2008).

If such a thing exists, please let me know where I can find them.

Thanks, Patrick

Hi Patrick:

Chinese proofing tools are not made for Microsoft Office:Mac.

Sadly, the PRC is a "challenge" when it comes to software. If you produce
tools for that area, you will only ever "sell" one copy :) The
counterfeiters will have "discount" copies of the CD on sale before you can
even get your product into the shops.

On the PC, Office is under the "Software Activation" mechanism, which
effectively cuts down on counterfeiting. So it is economic to offer Chinese
tools in PC Office.

Proofing tools are one of the most expensive parts of "localisation".
Unless the Chinese Government manages to offer effective copyright law
enforcement, or unless we get software activation on the Mac, it will never
make business sense to spend the money to make a Chinese version of
Office:Mac.

Sorry: Not what you wanted to hear, I am sure.

If you have an Intel Mac, consider installing the PC version of Office. If
you do, you can either buy a Chinese/English version, or buy the
Multi-Language pack that gives you 50 of the most popular languages.

Hope this helps
