In the resource I added a new column named Manager under Text1. For
different resources, I’ll have the same or a different manager.

When I go back to the Gantt Chart and add the Test1 column, none of these
managers entered in the Resource sheet show up. Why is that?

I’d simply like to associate a manager to a resource in the Resource sheet,
then choose a manager for a particular resource in the Gantt.

Thank you all.

jzis,
Many users have issues like yours and similar questions are frequently
posted. Project's underlying database is composed of three parts - one
for Task data, one for Resource data, and one for Assignment data. Each
of those objects has multiple spare fields (e.g. Textn, Costn, etc.).
However Task Text1 is completely independent from Resource Text1 and
Assignment Text1. That's why Resource Text1 data does not show up when
looking at a task view (e.g. Gantt Chart).

Although Resource Text1 data can be copied and pasted (manually or via
VBA) into Task Text1, in your case it may or may not make sense. For
example let's say that Joe and Fred are assigned to task "a". Joe's
manager is Rick and Fred's manager is Bob and their names are shown as
such on the Resource Sheet. Now the question. If Resource Text1 is
copied to Task Text1, which manager's name should appear for task "a" -
Rick or Bob? Obviously this problem doesn't exist if your file has only
one resource assigned to a task or if multiple resources assigned to a
task just happen to have the same manager.
