Choose dat range for sumif formula

I am using the SUMIF formula to select certain cells in row records to SUM.
These same records have a date. What should my formula look like to SUMIF
only records that match a data range. Say "only for Oct 1st through OCt
14th" and SUMIF only records within this data range that match the same
keyword? If someone can point me in the right direction on what this formula
should look like, I can work with it to tweak it in my spreadsheet.

You need to use a different function since you have multiple criteria.

A1:A10 = dates
B1:B10 = text entries
C1:C10 = values to sum

It's better to use cells to hold your criteria...

E1 = lower date boundary = 10/1/2009
F1 = upper date boundary = 10/14/2009
G1 = some keyword = Yes

=SUMPRODUCT(--(A1:A10>=E1),--(A1:A10<=F1),--(B1:B10=G1),C1:C10)

What this means:

Sum C1:C10 where A1:A10 is within the date boundaries and B1:B10 = Yes
