Choosing the Right Submit Data Connection

B

beperk

I have a form that I have created and I need help on deciding the right
submit data connection. Can someone please review the process steps below
and make a recommendation?

1.) Initiator completes an InfoPath form and leaves one field blank
2.) Form is saved and stored to a ?????
3.) Approver opens the form and enters a customer number on the form
4.) Initiator is alerted that the form has been completed by the approver

I don't know where the form should be stored so that the approver can add
the customer number and the initiator is notified once the process is
complete. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!!!!

At first sight it seems odd to have an approver adding a customer
number. Why not do that using a database (where the number for
existing customers can be added automatically, or a new record created
for a new customer)?

Another option is to email the form from initiator to approver to
initiator who then submits the form to wherever you store your data.

I suspect that there are aspects of this problem that you haven't told
us yet. If you come back with a follow up question it would be useful
to know where you currently store the data or where you propose to
store the data.
