Circular Links

I have a schedule which contains numerous sub-project schedules. These
sub-projects have a considerable number of external links. I have been
making updates to the individual sub-projects. Recently upon opening a
sub-project I received a "circular relationship" error (the successors of a
task refer back to a predecessor of the same task). When I click on the OK
button Project comes up then goes what I can only guess as an infinite loop.
As such, I have to kill Project thru the task manager.

Is there anyway I can bring up the file without this loop occuring? Thanks.

Hi,

The loops will "occur" as long as you do not remove them.
But you can avoid Project shutting down by opeing it, and in tools, Options,
Calculation, select Manual.
Then try to locate your circular links and remove them (you may have to undo
quite some links betwween projects) and when that is done you can put
Calculation to Automatic again.

Thank You. I have tried this approach as well. I set the "Manual" in the
Calculation tab within Project's global area (no schedules open). Then tried
to open a schedule with a known circular reference message. Project still
continues to "loop" and not allow me into the file.

I have also tried inserting a project w/o a link to the original file into a
new schedule. No luck, same result.

Any other suggestions?
