Circular Reference - Cache Dependent

J

Jim Sipe

Running Project Server 2007 SP1.

In a Master Schedule I am getting the "circular reference" message with
cache cleared (nothing in cache). Once the Master Schedule has loaded, it
also loads cache with the remated schedules. If I close and re-open the
Master Schedule with the cache populated I do not get the circular reference
message. I can repeat this and no message. If I then clear cache and open
the Master Schedule, I get the circular reference message. Another Project
Manager gets the same results with the same Master Schedule.

I have validated that all schedules contain no predecessors or successors on
Summary Tasks.

Any ideas?

Jim:

Whether or not you have predecessor relationships between summary tasks
doesn't prevent circular relationships. Not having summary tasks
relationships prevents a raft of other problems, and maybe makes circular
relationships less likely. Project is very bad at discovering circular
relationships between plans and master plans, so consider yourself lucky
that you at least know what the problem is. Now it's up to you to find the
circular relationship and fix it.
