classroom scheduling

Greetings to all!

is there any way to use microsoft project to efficiently create a class
schedule? The idea is to get information from two tables (subjects and
rooms). Can MS Project assign subjects to rooms automatically depending on
prescribed arrangement such as room capacity, type of room (lecture or
laboratory), etc.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I'm afraid the answer is no.
As a general rule, MS project does not "assign X to Y" whatever X and Y are.
It calculates possible dates based on capacity; the user has to assign
resoucrces to tasks.

I've been involved in classroom scheduling. I didn't (wouldn't) even
attempt it in Project. Not saying it can't be done, but it would be a
kludge. There is software out there that does just that. I imagine a
few minutes of googling could locate it.

Hope this helps in your world.
