Clean install office 2004 OSX 10.3.9

Hi,
I'm having problem starting Word and Excel, also Entourage cannot
display some e-mails, it just closed itself without any error message.
I deleted the "Microsoft Office 2004" folder and re-install it from the
disc several times but still cannot solve the problem, the computer shop
said I need to re-format and re-install the system.

Do you think that it make sense? Once software crashed and we need to
re-format the whole system.

Any solution? Please help.
