Clean Reinstall

Hi,

Can anyone indicate me if there is a way to perform a clean reinstall of
Office 2003 without reformatting my computer. I have tried several
ways/times, i.e. from the Control Panel and from the Office Installation
disk, and no matter what I do, every I try to perform an uninstall, traces of
the old installation are left behind. This is especially true with Outlook.

Can someone help me?

Thanks in advance,

Do you mean your old data shows up in Outlook, etc.? If yes, simply rename your outlook.pst to .old and then open Outlook and it will create a new .pst file. But why is this necessary?

If you post what problem you think will be solved by this, someone can probably give you a less drastic solution.

The reason for this is that I try to rebuild Outlook the way it was before I
reinstall XP and Office 2003 on my computer because of PC failure.

Before reinstalling XP & Office I BACKED UP all my Outlook data on another
computer on my Home Network. After then, I RESTORED all my data but Outlook
now keeps saving/archiving all my data on my Home Network when I wish to save
it on the “D†drive (second physical drive) on PC.

Despite this, I have been able to EXPORT all the data I wish to now IMPORT
instead of using RESTORE. However, I now have about half a dozen of different
Personal & Archive Folders that I can’t properly clean up, and I feel it
would be more practical and speedy to reinstall Office and import my data.

Is it possible to perform a clean reinstall or do you know a trick to solve
my problem?

Thanks,

Using either Import or Export is never the method to deal with OL data
files, as detailed in the OL ng's daily
http://www.howto-outlook.com/howto/backupandrestore.htm

Accessing the OL data file over a network is not supported by MS and can
lead to corruption/loss of the date file

With your desired data file(s) located on the required PC (do not overwrite
any existing data files)
Create a new Profile (Control Panel>Mail Applet) and add the desired data
file to it

Hi,

I took the time to inform me more deeply about the file management process
of Outlook and the Import/Export as well as Back Up/Restore process. This
exercise permitted me to restore all my mail.

Thanks for your support/help with my request.
