Cleaning out old onenote entries

When I delete a one note entry (a link to a file), the underlying file
remains in the onenote directory. Is there a process where the underlying
file is deleted along with the "link". So far..I've been manually going into
the directory and deleting the file...after I've deleted the onenote link.

If you created a link to the file in OneNote, we will not delete the file
when you delete the link. That is the design.
