Cleaning up MSP 2002 database

R

Robert

I have a large number of projects I want to purge from my MSP 2002 project
database (~400 projects). Using the "Clean up Project Server Database" Admin
page will take the rest of my natural lifetime to delete them one by one.

Is there any way to do a mass deletion like this? The console won't let me
multi-select projects nor will it let me delete all projects belonging to
specific users (that I can figure out, anyway).

Any suggestions?

Robert -

Have you tried the Project Server Cleaner tool?

Project Server 2003: Project Server Cleaner tool - Microsoft Project
Server 2002* and Project Server 2003
Note You can use the Project Server 2003: Project Server Cleaner tool
for Microsoft Project Server 2002* and for Project Server 2003.

You can use Project Server 2003: Project Server Cleaner tool to bulk
delete unwanted enterprise projects and enterprise resources from the
Project Server 2003 database.

*Note The Project Server 2003: Project Server Cleaner tool can only
delete Microsoft Project plans in 2002.

To download and install the Project Server 2003: Project Server Cleaner
tool, visit the following Microsoft Web site:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...da5-4aa7-ad98-2e7681d69beb&displaylang=en
(http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...a4-ada5-4aa7-ad98-2e7681d69beb&displaylang=en).

That will probably do the trick. You can't use it to bulk delete
resources in Project Server 2002 but you can get rid of the project
plans.

Hope this helps,

Thanks, I never noticed that this tool could be used for 2002 as well as
2003.

One additional question, though. I don't see that this will clean up the
SharePoint subwebs for each of the deleted programs. Do you know if it does
or not? If not, is there a similar tool somewhere that will get rid of the
subwebs too? Thanks!

When I last used it, I was able to select an option to delete the WSS
sites. That was with PS 2003 though. Your milage may vary. The nice
thing about PSCleaner is that works on your local machine - it doesn't
have to be installed on the Project Server box.
