Clear Address Cache

Hi,

I'm really annoyed that Outlook saves all addresses that I've written to. I
don't want it to do that. On my Mac at home, in Mail, I can just right click
and permanently delete the address forever. I know you can "delete" in
Outlook from the drop down by highlighting the address and simply pressing
delete. Kicker is, that when I turn my work computer on in the morning, all
the addresses are back.

Is there a way that Outlook will only keep addresses located in my address
book?
Is there a way to be able to permanently delete cached emails?

In Tools>Options, remove the option to enable auto complete. Where this
option is located depends on your version of OL
Rename the .n2k file

Thanks for the suggestion, but this is not what I am looking for.

I only want Outlook (Outlook 2003 Basic Office Edition) to cache email
addresses that are already saved in my address book.

If someone named "Jon Doe - (e-mail address removed)" emails me, and I reply, then that
address is saved. If I go to write an email with the begining as "J..." it
pops up. I don't want that. All I want are the addresses in my address book.
I want them to still drop down. (The other suggestion was to remove that
option completely.)

I will try to find the .NK2 file. Perhaps I'll just have to make a short cut
and go through it daily.

I dont believe you can configure the cache as you desire, perhaps you'll
have to resort to clicking To and selecting addy

Seems to me you should just be using autoresolution and disable
autocompletion.

I agree with Russ. AutoComplete (aka AutoSuggest) isn't going to do what
you want - it's an "all or nothing" sort of feature. It'll either cache all
the addresses you send to or none of them; it's not smart enough to check
your address book first.

AutoResolution, however, will let you type a unique string in the address
field and will resolve that (automatically, but not as a drop down) against
your Address book.
