Clear Field

Hello,
I have one field with item number and another for quantity. I want to
be able to enter an item and it will display 1 for quantity and after
that it will clear field for item so you can enter another one and it
will display another 1 in quantity to make a total of 2 in quantity
and so forth.

Is this possible? Please help me if you can

it will clear field for item so you can enter another one and it will
display another 1 in quantity to make a total of 2 in quantity
If you clear a field (empty or zero) and add 1 the results will not be 2 but
one.

Please explain a little more.
