Clearing old appointments

How can I do the above? My diary appointments go back several years and I would like to be able to delete old appointments between two set dates. Ideally, I would like to set some parameters where appointments outside the from date are automatically cleared.

Activesync appears to be able to do this

Open your calendar
Select VIEW on the menu
Select CURRENT VIEW
Select BY CATEGORY

Then you can sort by date (click the date header)
Highlight the appointments and MOVE
or DELETE them.
