"Mailto" links I click try to open in Internet Explorer
instead of Outlook, and result in tens of instances of IE
firing up - all naturally failing to display anything
useful! Only way out I have found is to Ctrl-Alt-Del and
kill IE from Task Manager.
I have Outlook 2002 (SP3) installed on XP Home. Outlook
is set as the default Email program, confirmed in
Internet Settings in IE. Works the same irrespective of
whether the link is clicked in IE, Outlook messages, or a
Word doc. IE version is 6.2 SP2.
I only moved over to Outlook from Outloook Express a
couple of months back, and even then, this syndrome was
evident, so it's not just related to Outlook. I had real
trouble after I first installed Office XP, trying to
persuade IE that OE was the default email program - kept
reverting to Outlook (presumably knowing it had been
installed when I installed Office).
Anyone got any ideas, please?
