Clicking on .doc file starts Word 2003 but doesn't open file in Wo

Hi All,

We're using Word 2003 in a small hospital. Our hospital manuals are stored
on a mapped drive. For 3 years everyone has been able to click on the .doc
file and Word starts and opens the file. About 3 weeks ago on one machine in
the ER when the user double clicks on the file word starts but the file
doesn't come up. If Word is open the person can use File > Open and browse to
the file and open it without a problem. Of course the users complain because
it doesn't work like it should.

I've searched the Internet and found 3 different things to try but none of
them worked.

Has anyone else seen this before and if so were you able to solve it?

I've had this happen to me as well. When the file is stored on a network
location, double clicking doesn't open. However if you try it again it works
(for me at least). Does it work for you too?
