Clicking on TOC doesn't go to page...

I have two Work 2000 doc. One I copied from another computer and it work
fine. When I move the mouse over a line in the TOC, a tooltip comes up
tellig me to use ctrl+click to go to that page. Fine. I've even seen where
just clicking goes to teh page. Fine also. Howver, I have a TOC on my
second doc that does neither. All the codes are there - as well as the page
numbers - but I can't get it to link by mouse click. What am I missing???

Thanks.

If you're seeing a tip telling you to Ctrl+click, then you must be using
Word 2002, as this feature was introduced there. The hyperlinking of TOC
entries was introduced in Word 2000 and is enabled by default (requires only
a simple click). In Word 97 and earlier, only the page numbers are
hyperlinked, and a simple click on the page number will take you to the
page.

In Word 2000 and above, hyperlinking of the entire TOC entry can be disabled
by removing the \h switch from the TOC field; in Word 2002 and above, this
choice can be made from the TOC dialog as well. If this feature is disabled,
page numbers are still hyperlinked as in previous versions, but Word 2002
and above will require Ctrl+click unless you disable that feature on the
Edit tab of Tools | Options.
