Client hangs attempting to send via Exchange Server

I have a user with Outlook 2002 and 2 profiles. One is with a POP
server at Verizon. The other is with an Exchange server in the UK.
The Verizon POP server profile works fine. I can send an email with a
1 Mb Excel file attached and the message clears the screen as soon as
I hit the send button. But with the Exchange server profile it sits
there for a full 3 min before going away. I can use other apps, but
not Outlook. When it finally frees up, the message is now in the
outbox. It doesn't matter if I have send immediately checked off or
not. This is a small office and none of the other users are
experiencing the same problem.

Any tips on how I can debug this?
