Clip Art modification

Les

I just copied a heart shape from the clip art section in PowerPoint. What I
wanted to do is change the color of the background that the artwork is on
which is white to a rose color. I prefer to just copy the image of the heart
without the backing it comes on. I tried to break up the image, ungroup, but
the feature is not available?? Trying to go about it another way doesnt seem
to work as far as aloowing to just color the white background the heart is
on. My hope was if I can just copy just the heart without its background I
could create a rectangle and set it to any color I want and just paste the
image on it. I hope I made myself clear. Please any help you people can
provide me would be very appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Les

Hi Mike,

I am working with Powerpoint 2007. When I bring the object in it appears to
have a white background and it appears it is grouped with the haeart picture.
If you have this version and go to clipart and search for HEARTS. The image
is the 4th from the bottom of the list on the right side.

HTH and look forward to hearing your response.

Using 2007, when I bring it in It comes in with a transparent background. If
you want to edit it, then right click the object, and select Edit Picture,
say Okay to convert it to a Microsoft Drawing Object, right click it again,
select group then ungroup and remove the background or change the colour
then regroup all the parts again.

Cliparts can have different file formats. When you hover your mouse over the
image before inserting, does it show WMF or PNG in the Quickinfo? WMF are
vector formats, which are editable and can be ungrouped. PNG are bitmap
formats which cannot be ungrouped. If it is a PNG and if the background is
pure white, click on the inserted image, Picture tools/Format - Recolor
image, at the bottom there's a Magic Wand to make one color transparent.
Try, if this works for the background. If yes, you can add a pink rectangle
behind the clipart to insert a new background color.
If this does not work, you might need to use an image editing program - or
chose another heart clipart (have a look on http://office.microsoft.com for
a large choice) to save time.

Best regards,
Ute

Hi Ute,

When I hover over the image it claims it is a JPG. This is the clip art set
in Powerpoint 2007. You mentioned what to do for wmf and png but what do I
need to do since it is in jpg format?

Thanks,

Les

All my ClipArt files are either WMF or PNG files seeing your reply to Ute,
your using a JPG file which cannot have a transparent background.
