Clip Art Usage for Web Sites

Janet

I design and product cd business cards and websites. In
plain English, can someone explain to me Microsoft's
policy on using their clip art in these media? Thanks.

Yes, you can use them as long as you are not creating a online clipart
gallery, but you need to read the EULA and maybe take with your attorney if
un-sure of your use.

Part way down this page MS spells out the usage of clip art. There is a
table that should answer most of your questions. In a nutshell, they say
they cannot grant a blanket permission to use their clip art because it may
be owned by a third party. My understanding is that if you choose, you may
use it for personal use but NOT for commercial usage. I wouldn't use it on
business cards - many people out there have no problem turning this kind of
violation into Microsoft.

Stay on the safe side - develop your own logo and purchase some
copyrght-free artwork.
