clip gallery

hi! i am unable to download clipart from the microsoft page into the clip
gallery in either Word 2001 or Word X. I have changed the settings and the
screen tells me it is going to the clip gallery but instead it is saved to
the desktop and is both unopenable and unreadable. any suggestions?
