This is a complex, but hopefully interesting, problem.
Like others, I have had problems with users on a network not seeing
web collections within Clip Organiser via Office XP. The good news is
that I found a solution to the problem. This is what I did:
1. On each workstation, I uninstalled Office (which I had originally
installed via the CD at each workstation).
2. I reinstalled Office, this time from the server (following
instructions from the MS website).
3. I deleted the user's roaming profile, both from the server
(NTUSER.DAT), and from each workstation that the user had used.
4. User logs on to the workstation (on which Office has been newly
installed from the server), runs Clip Organizer, and all is well.
User sees web collections, everything hunky dory.
So I hope this will be of use to people experiencing the same problem.
HOWEVER, I have many workstations and a couple of hundred users. To
go through this process of deleting profiles for every user would be
VERY tedious - AND the deletion of user profiles obviously means that
they lose many settings that they don't want to lose (Outlook
configuration, desktop setup, etc.)
SO, can anyone suggest how to get around this problem? For example,
is there something I can change in the registry, to save me all this
extra hassle?
And incidentally, another twist in the problem of not finding web
collections, is that if the user inadvertently logs on to a machine
that HASN'T had Office reinstalled, once again they are unable to see
web collections, and the whole business starts all over again!
ANY help that anyone can offer would be VERY much appreciated!
