Clipart files suddenly missing

S

Sara James

All of my clipart files that I have downloaded are missing from my
clipart application in officeX. I have always been able to dowload
files from office.microsoft.com, and they all automatically load
straight to Clipart in officeX.
When I do this now, the window pops up that says 'downloading clips
this may take a few seconds'-which it usually does, then nothing. So I
figure has been completed. Search for the clips I have just
downloaded, no clips found. Huh? This has never happed before. Can
anyone explain why this is, because my 2000 files that I have
downloaded since last year are all gone.

Thanks.
PS: I usually use Word and I'm running OS 10.2.8 on a G4 867Mhz, 40
gig Hd, 512 memory.

Hi Sara,

It's possible for the Clipart user database to get corrupted and cause this
problem. With Word closed, trash the file (In Office 2001, it's in the
Clipart:personal: folder in the Microsoft Office 2001 folder; I assume the
path will be similar in Word X). It will be rebuilt when you re-launch
Word.

Then repair permissions: Go to Macintosh HD/Applications/Utilities. Open
up Disk Utility. Select your hard disk, then click the First Aid tab.
Click the button to "Repair Disk Permissions".

Also, do you have Office fully updated? You should have the 10.1.2, 10.1.4
(includes .3) and 10.1.5 updaters, available free from the download page at
mactopia.com. And always repair permissions (again) after installing new
software.

Hope this helps.
