Clipart Organizer fouling up

P

Paul

I have been trying to open up my clipart organizer to use clipart for a Word
document. When I try to do this within Word, nothing happens (except Word
freezes up). In the Word menu, I go to Insert/Picture/Clipart but Word
freezes. When I try to open up the CLipart Organizer on its own (from teh
Programs menu), the clipart organizer window will pop up, but I am unable to
see or copy any clipart. Is there an equivalent to deleting a profile in
Word or Office? Or do I just have to reinstall? I rebooted Windows, cleaned
out temp files but am still having the same problems.

Did you compact the Organizer? Open the Organizer from Start, Microsoft Office
Tools, when the Organizer opens, tools, compact.

Could be the Organizer is damaged. You can create a new Mstore10.mgc file. The
file is found in a folder similar to this (hidden)
C:\\Documents and Settings\<user>\Application Data\Microsoft\Clip Organizer
or in Vista
C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Clip Organizer
Change the Mstore10.mgc to Mstore10.old. You will lose any custom keywords. The
Organizer will create a new catalog next time it is opened.

Thanks, Mary. I've tried that and evn though I've closed out any Office
program, I keep getting an error message saying that it is in use by another
program--checking the processes in the task manager turned up nothing
suspicious (like winword or anything like that). I'll try this on my next
reboot and see if I don't have better results.

Thanks again, Mary. It worked. I now have my clipart organizer back,
although I believe that it deleted all the downloaded clipart from the MS
Site (one of the lesser-known advantages of using MS Office--a huge
collection of free clipart). But as it was, I couldn't access them anyways,
so there you go (I do have a backup of them somewhere)... but thanks again.

I'm glad you have the Organizer back. The downloaded clips are in *My
Documents*, *My Pictures*, point the Organizer to the folder. File, Add clips,
on my own.
