Clipboard "out of memory" error

Hi everyone -

I'm trying to troubleshoot a student's problem w/ Office V.X Word and the clipboard. The student cannot copy and paste in word - they get a weird "out of memory" error. I've tried reinistalling all of Office v.X, trashing the preferences, and nada.

What I have noticed is that Word seems to have problems creating the Clipboard folder inside of the Preferences > Microsoft folder, but this isn't a permissions problem as Office has no problems writing the other pref files into that folder.

I'm at a total loss to figure this out. Any help is appreciated!

I assume you're talking about the Office Clipboard, not the System
Clipboard, correct?

Have you updated Office with the 10.1.2, 10.1.4 and 10.1.5 updates.
If not, download them here:

Since the Office clipboard is an Office component, rather than just
Word, it probably wouldn't hurt to repair permissions anyway (and if
you update, you should repair permissions for certain):

OS 10.2.x/3.x: Run the Disk Utility (in the ./Applications/Utilities
folder). From the First Aid tab, click "Repair Disk Permissions".

OS 10.1.5: Run Repair Privileges (same folder, or download from
