Clipboard Transparency Color Problem

After copying a bitmap picture in MS Word 2003 a transparency color can be
selected by clicking the “Set transparent color†button in the “Pictureâ€
toolbox, after which a transparency color can be defined by clicking
somewhere inside the picture. This works fine, but when copy-pasting this
picture to, for instance, MS Paint the transparency color becomes black. In
this way pictures cannot be edited or copied to another application outside
MS Office. I tried to remove the transparency color to its original color but
could not find any option to do so. Does somebody know how to solve this? It
is not possible for me to revert to the original bitmap file.

Hi Marcel,

If you copy the picture then use Edit=>Paste Special and paste as a PNG graphic and then copy that to Paint do you get better
results?
Even with the 'black' background the 'fill' can in paint should allow you to replace the background with another color in Paint.

Thanks Bob,

I haven’t realized it, but indeed copy-pasting to PNG or GIF works fine,
however JPEG causes the same problem. This is probably because PNG and GIF
define the use of a transparency color.

One side effect of copy-pasting is that I lose out on the original picture
resolution, since it takes the display resolution of the picture. I can of
course rescale the picture to get the most out of it, but it is not very
elegant.

With MS Paint I can use the “fill can†to make the background white again,
but this will not work if the original picture has black text and line
drawings, these will become white as well.

Kind regards,
Marcel
