clipboard !%$@ ups in Excel

Ok, so I'm working on a project that has mulitiple sheets in one Excel
file. Each sheet has information that needs to be sent to a different
office on campus. So I decided, to make less work for them and easy on
me, by making some new spreadsheets listing the information they
needed. When I selected three cells in a row (corresponding to last
name, first name, class year) and copied, it sure looks like I've
copied the information, but when I go to paste it on the other excel
sheet, the first name I copied (which was the wrong to copy) keeps
pasting. I cleared the scrapbook, and I can't even find the clipboard
- isn't this a feature for Windows Excel? a clipboard listing view on
the side? Is there something I'm doing wrong?

I hope that's clear enough.

Does the same thing happen when you choose Edit/Copy?

I've had occasions where system keyboard shortcuts stopped working, but
logging out and logging back in cured the problem. I don't think it's
happened since I've moved to Tiger.

Ok, I think I've figured out exactly what happens, but it beats the
hell out of me why. The excel file I'm copying from has more than one
sheet. I am trying to copy information from individual or multiple
cells in a row on sheet 2 into a new excel sheet. But when I paste the
information, it's pasting from the first file's sheet 1!!! For
example, I'm trying to copy an email from file 1, sheet 2 which is in
cell 3F. But instead what gets added to the clipboard (apparently) is
from sheet 1 cell 3F, which is the word Spain. What is going on
here?!?!?! Is this just a bug. I'm using Excel 2004.

Are the sheets grouped? Are the multiple cells contiguous? Are you just
relying on the contents of the clipboard? What happens when you paste into a
cell in Excel? I am not aware of any bugs regarding copy and paste in Excel.
However, Excel does treat the clipboard a little differently than other
applications.
