Close a Task

Joerg Schrocke

Hello!

I want to close a task for some user so that they can't enter actuals on
this tasks. How can I close such tasks, without logon with the user and hide
the tasks from the timesheets?

Many thanks,

Joerg

Joerg,

Greg Horodeck came up with a way to do this....

It works quite well IMHO.

Subject: Alternate use of proposed resource

I have found that one can switch a resource from committed to proposed,
even
if actual hours have been submitted. These actuals are preserved.

Since a project does not appear on a timesheet when a resource is
proposed,
I have come up with a couple of ideas to use this feature in an
alternative
way.

First, many have asked, how do I close a project out and prevent people
from
submitting time. Certainly locked down time periods can minimize this
risk
along with dilligence by the PM, but why couldn't the PM switch all of
the
resources to proposed after zero'ing out remaining hours? If you can't
see
it, you can't report against it?

Also, we have a large organization and have many Administrative
projects.
When a resource moves from one group to another in the organization and
has
to be placed into a new Administrative project, wouldn't it be clean to

change them to proposed in the old one? Easier than asking the resource
to
hide task.
