"Close open dialogue boxes" error message

Hello,

Recently when I try to open a file from a folder by double clicking it (with
Word closed), Word starts to come up and then stops and gives me a warning
window stating that there are open dialogue boxes that need to be closed
before Word will finish opening. Only option is to click "OK". I click on
"OK" and Word continues to open, the correct file opens and that's it. I've
tried opening different files with same results. I have done a cold reboot
and gone directly to a file, double clicked on it and the same thing
happens. If I open Word first and then find file from within Word,
everything works fne. Any suggestions?

Thanks for any help you can give me,

Marilyn

If you have Norton Anti Virus, open NAV and disable the Office Plug-in
option.

Thank you Terry,

I had others advises me to monkey around in my registry, and I didn't think
that necessary. Good Ol' Norton, strikes again. I thought I had that turned
off, but guess when I last upgraded Norton's Internet Security, it changed
all my settings (though it says it doesn't...sure.)

That did the trick and now I am having no more problems. Thanks again,

Marilyn
