Close Tasks to Update

Y

YonZo

Hi!

After closing one task, I'm not able to report time (actual work) in My
Tasks, as expected. But if I decide to report hours using My Timesheet to,
I'm able to do so on closed tasks.

Is this by design, and if so, are there any good reason why its like this?

I suspect it is a design oversight. Closing a task to further updates
should prevent a team member from applying an update to the task on either
the My Tasks page or the My Timesheet page. I know of no way around this
problem. Hope this helps.

one option left to prevent hours booked in timesheet, is to set the value for
'Publish' to 'no' for that specific task. Than it is not available for new
timesheet lines (any existing timesheet lines containing that task will not
be removed from the timesheet).
Note: the project manager should be sure that all submitted task updates for
that task are processed by him/her before doing above.

hope this helps

Hi Dale and Sander!

Thanx for quality information - I'll present it to our customer and
hopefully they'll settle for "No Publish" option... ;o)

Hello All,
This solution seems good for my situation, so, How do I set the Publish =
"No" for a specific task?

Kishore

The feature described in the answer is only available in Project Server
2007. Sorry.

Thank you Dale.

Is there any other way of doing it in P11 (2003 Proj Server)?

If this were an available feature in Project Server 2003, I would have told
you so. That is why I said it is only available in Project Server 2007.
This feature is one of many that make it desirable to upgrade to Project
Server 2007. Hope this helps.

The reply was almost Biblical: John 14:2...;-)

You are way too funny, my friend! :) Perhaps it would not surprise you,
therefore, that I used to be a pastor in my former career.

Ah...got it!

When I cite your books (all of which adorn my home office bookcase...;-),
instead of APA or MLA citation syntax I'll start using I Howard
[Module]:[page], II Howard [Module]:[page], etc. Sort of a 'Dale's
mission to the Non-PMBOK's in Corinth' approach...

Thanks,
