Close with Alt F + C, Print properties no longer work

installing some trial software to convert pdf's to word docs has changed 2
things with word.

1. Choosing File - Close is no longer an option (it isn't on the drop down
menu), and the shortcut Alt F + C doesn't work either
2. When I print from Word (which is often) the printer settings confirmation
screen no longer allows me to choose normal or fast print and is set on
Normal.

I have tried repairing and reinstalling Office 2003, but it makes no
difference.

Whatever that unnamed trial software was, it probably installed an add-in
that contains macros. Even if you uninstalled that software, the add-in is
probably still in place. Repairing or reinstalling Office wouldn't remove
it -- you'll have to locate it and remove it manually. See
