Closes file, does not ask to save lost 2 hours work

My intern spent two hours of work on excel file. He did not save file.

I accidentally closed it BUT Excel did not ask to save, curious why not.

In word I always get, "do you want to save" thanks.

The most likely reason is that there had been no changes since it was
last saved.

If XL exits abnormally (e.g., crashes), it won't ask to save, but you
should also have gotten a system message that the crash occurred.

A macro can set the Workbook.Saved property to True, which would tell XL
that there were no new changes, but I suspect you'd be aware if there
were any macros running that did that.

Thanks JE, actually figured out it was something bit different.
Accidentally opened to already opened file -- thread which you are helping
with, thanks.
