Closing 1 window when multiple windows of the same worksheet are onthe screen

This used to be easy: save the file, close the file, open the file and
close a window. This no longer seems to work any suggestions?

Try closing all but one of the windows, then saving the file.

I am down to 2 windows (on the same worksheet) and only one worksheet
active. Every time I use ommand w or select the close window menu item
both windows disappear.

When you use CMD+W or the Close command on the File menu you are closing the
workbook. Since you're closing the workbook, you're also closing all the
windows associated with that workbook. If you want to just close one of the
windows and not the workbook, click the red X button in the upper left
corner of the title bar of the window. There isn't a keyboard shortcut for
closing just one window of a workbook.

Please post again if that doesn't solve the problem.

Thanks - So simple it makes me feel stupid but as what I think of as a
power user I hate to use the mouse but I guess I can live with it.

Thanks again
