Closing all task leaves project reference in 'Add Lines' - PS 2007

Bill Busby

When we close all tasks on a project (select each 'Lock' box and publish) the
individual tasks are no longer displayed in the 'Add Lines' dialog box for a
resource to add to their timesheet. Unfortunately, the top level reference to
the project is listed, can be added to a timesheet and have time charged
against it. The time will never be updated into the project plan.

Is this another bug? Is there some way aside from archiving the project to
prevent this?

It sounds like a very plausilble bug to me.

Have you marked the project as 100% complete and are the users that can add
this project team members on the project or is it just the owner of the
project that has this issue?

I can confirm the problem. I have not found a way to prmove the
project item other than by removing the project. It is symptomatic of
many areas of 2007 where they have introduced good new functionality
but have not worked thru real world scenarios so spoil it by a small
detail.

There's a whole bunch of behaviors relating to closing tasks to updates that
don't make much sense. The product team is aware of them.

Yes, Microsoft has confirmed this is a bug and the only way to resolve it is
to archive and delete the project. Unfortunately that action removes much of
the project info from the reporting database so we're working to find a
solution to keep the reporting intact following a project deletion.
